Hey guys,
it felt really good.
So good, that I didn’t even miss anything else. I am chuckling as I type this because it was really good.
What am I talking about? Being away from technology because I was traveling for work.
This past week, Lindsey and I packed up our bags, dog food, dog toys, and our laptops to fly down to Miami. This time, it was for something that hasn’t happened in a while: a work conference.
I am a policy for the Lincoln Network. All of last year I spent learning about how we in the tech industry can interact, engage, and help influence policy through the many different avenues available to us. The Lincoln Network aims to just do that, connect the bridge between Tech and Policy. As part of their capstone event for the hackers, they invited all of us down to Miami to spend a few days networking, meeting the team, and helping to close out the year as they planned for the next cohort of hackers.
Let me tell you, it felt awesome to connect with like-minded folks with different backgrounds and learn from each other. It was truly a wonderful moment because I found myself constantly being the dumbest person in the room. I was learning about constructs in our government, projects that are about to unfold, and I was amazed by the level of intellectual rigor in both policy and tech that there was in the room. It was like I was plugged into a charging station being infused with energy like I haven’t felt before.
Meetings in person will ALWAYS outperform zooms and any virtual events that are happening in the world. hands down. It was great to meet people in person, double down in the magic of serendipity, and more importantly, showing up.
Last week, was pretty great as well. I had a tendency to not be on my phone or computer as I engulfed in in-person meetings. With that said, I am excited to catch up to all the messages and initiatives that are on the fire. This is the first time in a long time where I am super focused on the 3 initiatives that will be creating massive amounts of value for our community. Can’t wait to share it with you all.
This coming week is all about planning and being hyper intentional with scheduling my priorities.
My clients are kicking ass, my new company is on a great fundraising process, and my coaching is being leveled up to world-class. I am beyond grateful to be here today; a special thanks to each and everyone of you who fuel and support me. Life is good, God is great.
Things I Discovered
A Reflection:
it is said that the world steps aside for the man that knows where he is going. As we approach the accumulation of our new baseline and attitude, we need to begin to act with confidence and conviction in our thoughts and actions in order to build the reality which we are aiming for.
With this confident approach, it is always prudent to welcome the daughters of wisdom, awareness and compassion, along your journey.
These companions will birth the unshakeable foundation of your confidence ridding you of all doubt in your aims.
Be ruthlessly empathic. Strike when the iron is hot. Be so confident that there is no room left for doubt.A Question:
What would it look like if you did not quit?
A Phrase:
You can’t be succesful if you aren’t focused
A Lesson:
Master the art of following up
A Conviction:
You can’t predict the future without understanding the history
A Quote:
“The World Is Runned by those who show up.” - unknown
A Framework:
Delegate to liberate
A Truth:
Value always accrues back to those who create it.
A Recommendation:
Keep showing up.
A photo: Emiliano is one of my favorite humans in the world. He is one of the kindest souls that I learn from and share wisdom with. He also happens to be my nephew. Everytime we spend time together, my heart grows 3 sizes and fills up with so much love and joy.
Pura Vida,
Alejandro
